How hard is it to replace a heater core in a Dodge Ram truck?

I have a 2002 Dodge Ram 1500. The coolant was pouring out the bottom. I took it in and was told that I need to have the heater core replaced, thermostat replaced, and a coolant flush. The estimate was $600. Is this a decent price? Is it work that can be done without a repair shop? Any answers are greatly appreciated.|||You have to evacuate the A/C system and pull the whole dash out in order to get to the heater core. Pay the $600.00.|||Its not that hard, but if they are going to do it for 600 buck parts and labor thats not a bad price. I did it but i have access to a machine to suck the freon out also, if you dont then you shouldnt do the job. Releasing that crap in the air is bad. the rest of the job is more time consuming!

|||Real hard|||if u found someone to do it for 600 bucks then jump all over it. u wiil wish u had if u try to do it urself.|||It's not that its a hard job. I mean, the shop can do it in a day with just one mechanic working. You will need some specialist tools if you have A/C. you will probably need to see a chiropractor to fix your back afterwards. Laying upside down under a car dash all day is no fun. Pay the $600
